Robison expected to face questions
Health Secretary Shona Robison is expected to face questions from MSPs today over her handling of the financial calamity at NHS Tayside.
Ms Robison has offered to make a ministerial statement on the crisis to the Scottish Parliament, which a Holyrood panel is set to sign off this morning.
The health board, likely to require at least £12 million in bail-out cash from the Scottish Government for 2017-18, has been mired in accounting scandals that have forced out its senior leadership. That includes the misuse of charity cash to fund general spending.
Labour MSP Anas Sarwar said: “It is absolutely essential Shona Robison explains to Parliament whether this is an isolated incident or a more widespread practice.”
Caroline Gardner, Auditor General at Scotland’s public spending watchdog, gives evidence to a Holyrood committee on Thursday. She said the Tayside situation highlights the need for greater transparency and more strategic management of the NHS finances.
