To avoid confusion

The Courier & Advertiser (Dundee Edition) - - COMMENT -

“I responded to a photograph that was in the Craigie column on April 3,” says Lilian McBean of Invergowrie. “I said that the lady standing second from the left was my granny.

“What I meant to say was that the lady second from the right was my granny. She was the tall lady standing between Robert Wilson and Jack Cooper. I apologise for any confusion this may have caused.

“My granny’s name was Helen Houston and she was an avid follower of The Gie Gordons Dance Band and The White Heather Club.”

“My great-grandad, Samuel Gillies, two of my great-uncles, John and Alex, and four other crew members died when the fishing boat, Brothers, was lost on March 30 1886.”

“Some of the trees along the River Tay in Dunkeld are showing some colour despite all the freezing winds lately,” says the Dundee reader who sent in this photograph.
