Nam­ing of plants

Dr Neil Pater­son from the Uni­ver­sity of Dundee Botanic Gar­den will give a brief his­tory of the sci­en­tific nam­ing and clas­si­fi­ca­tion of plants – in­clud­ing the fas­ci­nat­ing (and very odd) Swede Lin­naeus and the unsung hero of plant tax­on­omy, the English­man John Ray – as part of the Dundee Af­ter­noon Lec­ture se­ries.

The il­lus­trated lec­ture, or­gan­ised by the Friends of the Uni­ver­sity of Dundee Botanic Gar­den, will be given in the D’Arcy Thom­son The­atre at the Uni­ver­sity of Dundee on Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 17 at 2.15pm. Ad­mis­sion is £2.
