National security secret HQ

The Courier & Advertiser (Dundee Edition) - - NEWS -

A derelict building on the edge of a Fife village is hiding a big secret, it has emerged.

Gateside Mills has been revealed as the official address of a littleknown thinktank which has set up an “integrity initiative” to combat Russian propaganda.

The Institute of Statcraft has registered the disused mill in Gateside, near Auchtermuchty, as its headquarters with the Scottish Charity Regulator.

It describes itself as an independent body dedicated to improving governance and enhancing national security.

It has a worldwide team of researchers and contributors from governments, academia and corporate bodies. One of its directors is Oliver McTernan, who initiated the first post-Kosovo conflict talks between Nato and the Belgrade government.

The integrity initiative is a Europe-wide network looking at the kind of disinformation the Russian government has been accused of.
