COLD FEET Monday, STV, 9pm

The eighth series of the enjoyable comedy-drama gets off to a fine start as the long-time friends attend a summer wedding being held in a lovely country manor.

Back in Manchester, Pete becomes an unlikely hero, Jenny receives some worrying news, David’s money woes – he now works in a call centre – are compounded by his son’s decision to drop out of university, and ageing ladies’ man Adam gets more than he bargained for when he starts flirting with an attractive young barista.

Ever since it returned to our screens in 2016, this smartly written and deftly performed show has comfortably evolved into a bittersweet rumination on middle-age.

Adam’s travails in particular will likely strike a chord with lonely singletons of a certain vintage.
