Trio get life terms for Fife murder

- by Brian Horne

A FIFE property developer who ordered the cold-blooded assassination of his millionaire brother over a business row was jailed for life yesterday.

One of the longest murder trials before a Scottish court heard how the Siddique brothers were locked in a power struggle for control of their lucrative flat rental business.

The long-running feud ended in bloodshed when Bulgarian hit-man Tencho Andonov sprayed bullets round a flat in Glenrothes.

Mohammed Nadeem Siddique (pictured) — known as Toby — lay dead and former security man David Dalgleish, who lived in the flat in Forres Drive, was shot in the head but survived.

Mohammed Azam Siddique — known as Mo — was found guilty of murder, along with trigger-man Andonov and bouncer Deyan Nikolov, a fellow Bulgarian who helped lure Toby Siddique (38) to his death.

At the High Court in Edinburgh yesterday judge Lord Kinclaven described the shooting of the father-of-three on October 24 2010 as “a pre-meditated and brutal murder.”

He ordered Mo Siddique (42) to serve at least 25 years before he can apply for parole.

Andonov (28), also convicted of the attempted murder of Mr Dalgleish, will spend at least 29 years behind bars.

Fixer Nikolov (27) was given a minimum jail term of 18 years.

As she left court widow Saimah Siddique (33) said her brother-inlaw’s act of betrayal had destroyed four family homes. “Because it is in the family there is no escaping,” she said. “It is going to be around us forever. Our children... it is going to affect their future.”

MRS SIDDIQUE said: “They portrayed him to be someone he wasn’t.

“He lived for his children and it is upsetting that the children are going to grow up without a father.”

She added: “My husband trusted him (Mo) the most. He trusted him more than he trusted me.”

Mrs Siddique said: “I don’t have words for what I feel towards him but I don’t forgive him.”
