Support angry at ‘extra charge’

- RANGERS DEBTS:

“RANGERS FANS were angry when Dundee United levied an extra charge on Rangers ticket holders if they wished to attend an abandoned game at Tannadice.

“Like everyone else connected to the club, we are aware of the Rangers standing and their responsibilities to the rest of the game in Scotland.

“We believe that spending some of our funds this way is only fair to Dunfermline who are suffering because of a situation that was not of their making.

“It also demonstrates to the Scottish football authorities that Rangers fans not only have an allegiance to the club — but are aware of the impact the club’s situation is h av i n g elsewhere in the game.

“The Fans Fighting Fund is doing this on behalf of Rangers Football Club as we believe this the proper course of action.

“We would hope this is not only noted by the Scottish football authorities but will have a strong impact when certain charges against the club are debated by the SFA on Thursday.” K EN MC G E O C H has put his shares in St Mirren up for sale after the SPL Paisley club called for his resignation as director for allegedly showing “commercially sensitive documents” to Rangers company secretary Gary Withey.

Withey, a former partner in the London law firm Collyer Bristow, brokered the Rangers takeover deal in May 2011 when Craig Whyte paid a nominal £1 for Sir David Murray’s 85% shareholding.

Mcgeoch and his business partner Paul Davies, who have expressed interest in taking over the Buddies, met Withey in the St Mirren boardroom in November.

In a statement, Mcgeoch said: “As a lifelong fan I’m very disappointed by the sustained campaign to discredit my bid and remove me from the board.

“The main objective has always been to secure the club’s future but it’s clear the current board believe it should be taken in a different direction.

“I can confirm that I will no longer require to be a shareholder and these shares are available for the board and R Atkinson (prospective buyer Richard Atkinson) to purchase.”
