Minidress can star

- By The Ferret

MINIDRESS can give Godolphin some respite following recent woes by winning the Height of Fashion Stakes at Goodwood.

Plenty of their runners look to have needed their initial outings, although those hailing from Mahmood al Zarooni’s yard to seem to have been faring a little better than their Saeed bin Suroor-trained counterparts.

Minidress is handled by Al Zarooni so that is an immediate plus for this Listed event.

A winner on her debut at Newmarket last August, Minidress then went on to finish a two-length fourth in the Oh So Sharp Stakes when she appeared desperately in need of a step up in trip.

Pitched into the seven-furlong Nell Gwyn on her return, Minidress was held up early on before failing to get a clear run when trying to make her move inside the distance.

GOODWOOD ATLANTIS can do the business at John Dunlop’s local track in the Hazel Wigley Memorial Stakes (Handicap).

He won one of two starts as a juvenile, shrugging off a defeat at Sandown in July when prevailing by a short head at Salisbury last August despite looking a bit lost throughout.

Goodwood Atlantis did not run again after that victory so while he may lack experience for this handicap bow, an initial mark of 78 should help offset his lack of race action.

BONNIE BRAE should be game for the task as she shoulders top weight in the Wright Joinery Company Stakes (Handicap).

She made a pleasing start to 2012 when beaten just under a length in the Victoria Cup at Ascot earlier this month and while a 4lb rise is hardly ideal, she appears to be pretty progressive.

DALIANCE can strike for the Tom Dascombe team in Sandown’s Fernox TFL Handicap.

This Dalakhani colt is related to some decent types in France and posted the best of three attempts to date when second in a Kempton maiden last time.
