Service valued for ‘continued excellence’
FIFE REHABILITATION Service (FRS) has been recognised for its “continued excellence” in delivering quality in-patient services.
Based at Cameron Hospital, Windygates, FRS has retained a maximum three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for its in-patient programme, following a recent survey.
FRS, which provides assessment and rehabilitation for people with physical disabilities due to a neurological cause — including patients with multiple sclerosis and traumatic brain injuries — was the first hospital-based rehabilitation service in the UK to gain CARF accreditation in 2003, retaining it in 2006 and 2009.
This accreditation marks an organisation’s commitment to improving services, encouraging feedback and serving the community.
In its latest report CARF states: “Fife Rehabilitation Service demonstrates a firm commitment to the provision of quality rehabilitation services and continued excellence in addressing the needs of patients.”
Dr Lance Sloan, consultant in charge of FRS, said: “This is testament to the continued hard work of all the staff within the unit and their commitment to providing a quality service to patients.”
Dr Brian Montgomery, medical director of NHS Fife, said: “FRS is something of which NHS Fife is justifiably proud.”
