Pars hero relishes derby winner

- by Neil Robertson

DUNFERMLINE GOAL hero Andy Geggan has revealed he had a premonition that he would hit the back of the net against Raith Rovers yesterday.

The makeshift full-back duly scored his first goal for the Pars since joining from Ayr in the summer when he headed home a second-half Josh Falkingham cross.

And Geggan admitted the experience tasted even sweeter as it proved to be the decisive counter that secured all three points against Dunfermline’s bitter Fife rivals.

It was the Pars’ first win in a month and Geggan insists they will now travel with confidence to another of his former clubs, Dumbarton, on Saturday.

He said: “I had a wee feeling before the game that I would score my first goal for the club.

“But to come like that is even better, especially against them.

“I always felt my goal has been coming. I have been having more shots over the last couple of weeks or so but keepers have been saving them.

“It was a great delivery from Josh. David Smith was supposed to be marking me and he said, ‘I don’t know why I didn’t mark you there’.

“I said I didn’t know why he didn’t mark me either!

“He had said to me when they had an earlier chance, that’s 1-0 to us. So I had to put him right when I scored and told him that was actually 1-0 to us.”
