Raids against organised crime group in Dunfermline

-

POLICE SCOTLAND yesterday carried out a series of raids at a number of addresses in the Dunfermline area.

This was the culmination of several months’ intelligence and enforcement action against an organised crime group responsible for the distribution of quantities of class A controlled drugs throughout Fife.

Police Scotland said that among the five people detained were the principal figures in this organised crime group, who will be subject to further investigation.

Specialist teams of officers, including financial investigators, attended at the addresses as Police Scotland continue to gather evidence of drug dealing and money laundering.

Detective Superintendent Stuart Johnstone, Fife division head of crime management, said: “Once again Police Scotland have taken proactive action against those who continue to target the weak and vulnerable within our communities by distributing controlled drugs.

“Last week saw the conviction of four individuals who were also concerned in the supply of class A drugs in Fife, and the enforcement action today continues to demonstrate our commitment to target those involved in this type of serious criminality.

“In addition to our enforcement action, officers have been distributing leaflets which highlight the Police Scotland ‘Made in Crime’ initiative.”
