Heatwave comes to an end as revelers hot up for Rewind
THE HEATWAVE Courier Country has been basking in for the past two weeks is on the way out and festival organisers of Rewind Scotland are preparing for the possibility of thunder this weekend.
The outlook for this week is unsettled with rain and a MET office forecaster said they could not rule out the possibility of thunder still hanging around this weekend.
Today is expected to have a murky start, brightening up briefly before thundery downpours drive across the Central, Tayside and Fife areas throughout the afternoon.
The worst of the weather should arrive on Wednesday, which looks set to be a washout.
Thundery rain and torrential downpours are being forecast for most of the day although it should start to dry up later on.
The unsettled weather will continue at least until the end of the week, with costal mist and scattered showers for the area on Thursday and Friday.
It is still too early for forecasters to have a clear picture of the Courier Country outlook for the weekend but UK-wide there will be a mixture.
He said: “Most regions will see some sun but some will see showers, heavy in some areas, with a risk of thunder.”
David Heartfield, organiser of Rewind Scotland, which will take place at Scone palace in Perthshire, from Friday to Sunday, said nothing will dampen the spirits of the 30,000 revelers at this year’s event.
He said there is always a lot of speculation about the weather in the run-up to the festival and last year the site was actually flooded for three days but it all turned out OK come the main event.
He said: “The festival goes on whatever. It would have to be exceptional circumstances to change that.
“There are always contingency plans in place and we have metal walkways but if it rains we will get wet.
“I thinkT in the Park had the best weather it has ever had this year so maybe it is our turn to have the poor weather.”
People are being advised to check the MET office website regularly for more local details as they become available at www.metoffice.gov.uk.
