Goldie’s Diamond gets better of Perratt

-

THE LONG distance handicap at A yr yesterday only had three runners and it was an all-Scottish affair.

Jim Goldie saddled two and Linda Perratt the other and it was Grand Diamond that landed the spoils for Goldie and young apprentice Jordan Nason.

The trainer wasted little time in landing a double when Someone’s Darling (7-4) took the six fir long fillies’ handi cap.

Goldie said: “Someone’s Darling has been running well all season and deserves to win this, she’s a game filly.”

Barney McGrew (9-2) won for the first time for two years when he got up by a head in the seven furlong handicap.

The winner is trained by Michael Dods and his wife Carol said: “I’m delighted to see him win again. It’s been a while but he’s a star at home and is my favourite.”

Joe Fanning and Mark Johnston took the opening seven furlong maiden stakes when Stars Over The Sea (1-2 fav) came home a comfortable three-length winner.

Joey Haynes is a name to keep an eye on. The former A ndrew Baling apprentice landed his first winner since moving to Karle Burke’s Middelham yard aboard Bold Prediction (9-2) in the mile handicap, trained by his new boss.

Joe Fanning can carry his good form on to Musselburgh today with a strong book of rides.

Keith Dalgleish has a strong team out and Fanning rides Salvatore Fury in the five furlong handicap, although a big danger will come from his stable mate Secret A dvice.
