Brechin heading for tribunal over Jackson

-

BRECHIN CITY and East Stirling are heading for a tribunal over the compensation fee the Glebe Park side need to pay for full-back Steven Jackson.

The 21-year-old has joined elder brother Andy at Brechin and has featured in pre-season games for Ray McKinnon’s side, but the clubs differ in their valuation of the training compensation fee for his development at the Third Division side.

The Shire are after a four figure fee for Jackson who was in their first team since he was 18, whereas Brechin have reportedly offered less.

A spokesperson for the Ochilview side said: “At the moment we will have to get a third party in to decide the fee as the clubs are considerably far apart at the moment.”

Forfar have signed Scotland Junior internationalist Neil McCabe, who previously played for Livingston and Cowdenbeath, after he convinced manager Dick Campbell to give him another chance in the senior game.

The 23-year-old has played at a junior level for the last two seasons with Kelty Hearts, although he has since impressed for the Loons in pre-season games.

Campbell said: “I have signed Neil as he has done well for us.

“I am happy with what he has done for us and I am sure he will do well for Forfar.”

Cowdenbeath have been told they will have to do without midfielder Jamie Stevenson in the season’s two opening cup ties.

The 29-year-old was sent off against East Fife in a friendly game last Saturday and has been handed a twogame suspension for violent conduct.

Stevenson will now miss out against Dunfermline in the opening round of the Ramsdens Cup and Berwick Rangers in the League Cup.

Cowdenbeath have arranged a closed-door friendly against Partick Thistle at Firhill tonight to complete their pre-season preparations.

Striker Pat Clarke has agreed a one season deal with East Fife after impressing the New Bayview club during pre-season.

The 28-year-old started his career at Dunfermline Athletic in 2003.

Clarke has now played for all four Fife clubs, having also played for Cowdenbeath and Raith Rovers. He has also donned the colours of Berwick Rangers, Arbroath, Clyde and Dundee before ending his second spell at Kirkcaldy in the summer when he was released by the Stark’s Park club.
