Seymour’s focus on Munster

TOMMY SEYMOUR insisted he and his Glasgow mates will erase all thoughts of Scotland caps when they square up to Munster tomorrow.

The sides clash at Scotstoun with the Warriors aiming to stretch their lead at the top of the Pro12 league.

And speed-merchant Seymour claimed they will be totally focussed on the job in hand.

He said: “The 18 guys in the Glasgow set-up who have been picked for the Scotland autumn Test squad have given themselves and each other a pat on the back.

“But we were straight back to work and concentrating on Munster.

“You can’t dwell on Scotland stuff when you have other big responsibilities.

“This weekend will be another huge challenge, but the confidence is there and the fact that there are so many Warriors who have been recognised by Scotland makes you hope the feelgood factor will bleed into performance against Munster.”

Seymour, who earned his first two caps during the summer tour of South Africa, added: “The international squad call-ups are particularly great news for youngsters like Mark Bennett and Jonny Gray.

“They have been rewarded for consistently high quality performances and they will have a huge amount of confidence and re-assurance that they are doing things right.

“Our younger guys are realising that if they are good enough, then they are old enough and that they can be rewarded with promotion to the higher level.”

On the Munster challenge, Seymour said: “We are under no illusion about what we will be up against.

“It is a top v second encounter and they will be wanting to set a couple of records straight.

“Their most recent memory of coming to Scotland was losing to Edinburgh in the Heineken Cup.

“They will also remember that we beat them last season. But we are a team with momentum and we would like to do to them what Edinburgh achieved.”

Munster will be without Denis Hurley and Donnacha Ryan for the trip to Scotstoun.

Both sustained knee ligament damage during last weekend’s Heineken Cup victory over Gloucester at Thomond Park.
