Kashirsky still a doubt as Stingrays clash looms
NIKITA KASHIRSKY is a doubt as Dundee CCS Stars prepare for tomorrow’s home clash with Hull Stingrays.
The Russian-born hitman has been sidelined with an undisclosed injury and admitted it is “day-to-day” currently.
Kashisrky has been filling in as bench coach for the Tayside team and Dundee come into the Elite League clash after a confidence-boosting comeback from 4- 1 down after 26 minutes at Cardiff Devils on Sunday.
T he Sco ts eventually tied the game at 4-4, thanks to Jerry Pollastrone’s hat-trick strike with less than three minutes on the clock and the short-benched Dundee side, who only had 12 skaters on duty plus two goaltenders, lost in a penalty shoot-out.
Kashirsky said: “I was proud of the guys. We were a long way back in that game but they fought their way back into it.
“The guys did a great job in a battling performance and that is something we’re really happy with.”
The point gained from the 4-4 regulation draw leaves Dundee in third spot in the table with 26 points, three points adrift of second-placed Braehead Clan who have played 20 games, one less than the Tayside team.
Belfast Giants lead the title race with 33 points from 22 games.
Kashirsky added: “Hull are coming off a really good result (5-4 victory at Edinburgh Capitals) on Sunday and they are always a tough team to play.
“We have to be ready.”
