Extra police join search for missing Fifer
EXTRA POLICE officers from across Central Scotland and Tayside have been called in to assist Fife officers with their search for missing Newport woman Susan Reid.
Police Scotland’s Fife Division enlisted the help of officers from Alloa and Dundee in order to help track down 56-year-old Mrs Reid, who has not been seen or heard from sinceTuesday January 21.
Marine support officers were also called in yesterday as the search intensified in and around Newport, with air support from a police helicopter possible again today.
Despite signif icant efforts in recent days to trace Mrs Reid, pictured, a librarian who works for Dundee University, officers have been unable to find her.
A police spokeswoman confirmed Mrs Reid has not attempted to use her bank cards or mobile phone since disappearing.
Specialist officers have also been deployed to investigate areas around Mrs Reid’s home.
According to family members, Mrs Reid was last in touch on the evening of January 21.
Having been missing for more than a week, police say concern is growing over her welfare.
Officers cited the librarian’s failure to access her bank cards or mobile in particular as adding a sense of urgency to the search.
Police have described Mrs Reid as 5ft 7in tall, of slim build and having blonde and greying hair.
