Lara hopes naked ambition will win her a place on team
FORGET THE Winter Olympics, stunning Edinburgh University student Lara Prior-Palmer yesterday unveiled her bid to grab gold ... in the Naked Sledding World Championship.
Last year, daredevil Lara, 19, became the first British woman to win the Mongol Derby, widely acknowledged as the toughest horse race in the world.
The endurance race is also the world’s longest, taking in 1,000km across the Mongolian Steppes.
Having conquered the mammoth trek, Lara, a first-year history and Arabic student at Edinburgh University, has now turned her attention to a new icy challenge.
The Naked Sledding World Championship will take place in the mountain town of Braulage, Germany, with 30 participants from 15 different countries taking part.
The winners will be the first man and woman — wearing only a helmet and knickers — to cross the finish line of the 89-metre downhill race.
The victorious team will scoop £1,000 prize money each and tens of thousands of spectators are expected to take in the action.
The brave student has now been selected on a shortlist of 10 people vying to become the two-person GB team next month.
She is hoping that Scots will back her in an online vote at http://blog.chillisauce.co.uk/naked-sledding
