Murphy’s got too big for his boots

-

A TEENAGE rugby player has got too big for his boots — literally.

Longforgan lad Murphy Walker, 14, may now have to quit the game as he is struggling to find boots big enough for his size 16 feet.

His footwear dilemma is all the more desperate as his mother Pamela runs two shoe shops.

Murphy is 5ft 11ins but his gigantic feet are the same length as a rugby ball, at just over 12 inches.

The youngster has gone up three sizes in a year and now must face quitting his sport unless he can find another pair of boots.

He said: “I’m playing in size 15s but they’re a bit tight. I’ve probably got a month left in them. We’ve tried everything.”

Murphy turns out as loose head prop for his school, Strathallan, and Dundee Eagles.

He added: “The Eagles have the league cup coming up. I’ll be gutted if I can’t play. I’ve been told feet stop growing at size 20 so I don’t think I’m done yet!”

Anyone who can help find a pair of size 16 boots can call The Courier’s newsdesk on 01382 575130.
