Rovers seeking to restore balance to ease pressure

-

STRIKING THE right balance between scoring goals and keeping them out at the other end will see Raith Rovers climb the table, according to boss Grant Murray.

The Kirkcaldy club were far from disgraced as they exited the Scottish Cup last weekend but all eyes have now turned to league business and most immediately a massive game tomorrow against bottom of the league side Morton.

Rovers know that three points could well ease the pressure of a relegation play-off.

“We’ve got to score goals but we’ve got to keep the ball out at the other end or good teams will punish you,” the 38-yearold said.

“Performances are pleasing and we’re scoring goals, which is the biggest part of football, but we’ve got to make ourselves harder to beat.

“We’re at home on Saturday so we’ll be setting out to win the game. We’ve got to get back to scoring the first goal and being very difficult to play against.”

Rovers are without a win in 10 league games but Murray remains convinced his squad can rise to the challenge in the run-in.

“It is a tough time,” he said.

“We started the season well but that’s gone, we’ve got to realise that. We’ve got to get back to that sort of form and get that belief that we can win games of football.

“We’ve got the same squad of players — apart from one or two — that started the season and picked up the points that we did until we hit this wee spell, but I expect everyone here to turn that around.”

Rovers are hoping for a larger than average crowd for tomorrow’s game and, as such, are piloting a bus service taking fans from Glenrothes to Stark’s Park.

The price will be just £5 per person for the return journey and places must be reserved by emailing glenrothes@raithrovers.net by midday today.

Stops will be made at the Gilvenbank Hotel at 1.50pm, Golden Acorn at 2pm, Pinkertons at 2.05pm and the Dixon Arms at 2.10pm.

If successful, the plan is to introduce regular travel from Glenrothes and grow the number of people using the service.

Meanwhile, Dundee have announced reduced prices for families for Tuesday’s league match at Dens Park.

Family group tickets, priced at £20 for adults, £2 for under-12s and £7 for under-16s, must be purchased in advance from Stark’s Park during normal office hours.
