Thumbs up to Green Thumb

-

FORMER HEAD greenkeeper Mark Tunstall and his wife Lorna launched the Greenthumb Lawn Treatment franchise in Perth and East Fife in 2005 and now treat over 2,600 lawns throughout the area.

When the chance to expand into Dundee and Angus came up in 2012 they knew it made sense and have now added a further 1,200 customers who are benefiting from a healthy, lush, green and weed-free lawn.

Greenthumb, with over 28 years experience, is widely regarded as the UK’s premier lawncare company and has always led the way in the development of the very latest advancements in lawncare technology from around the world and is proud to use the best-quality materials that have been developed specifically with the Greenthumb treatment cycles in mind.

Before setting up the franchise, Mark had previously worked for Greenthumb head office as a technical manager advising the nationwide network of lawn operatives on how to tackle unusual lawn conditions so his own customers can now reap the benefits of his extensive knowledge.

Mark and Lorna are supported by a team of seven operatives: Mike, Dave, Ronnie, Colin, Graeme, Abe and Scott along with Ann in the office.

Their operatives are all fully qualified in the application of lawn care materials and can treat over 100 lawns in any one week and they’ve experienced all types of lawn conditions — from the pure sandy soils of the coastal areas to the nutrient-rich farmlands and highland conditions found within the more northern reaches of the firm’s territory.

The team are regularly asked for advice and prices from envious neighbours who also want their lawn treated — most of their business growth comes from customer referrals.

Every customer benefits from four seasonal treatments, each tailored for their soil and weather conditions of the season — this often costs less than the DIY lawn products at the local hardware store and customers benefit from having the professionals apply these.

In addition Greenthumb can offer many other types of treatments from scarification, hollow tine aeration and extra moss control to combat the heavy moss and thatch that has arisen from the mild winter conditions we have experienced to water conservers, growth regulators and of course disease and pest control.

Greenthumb customers can now spread payments over 12 regular monthly payments via direct debit with packages saving between 15% and 25% on the standard pay as you go method.
