School alive with Samba sounds

A touch of Brazil came to East Wemyss Primary School thanks to a Youth Music Initiative project led by Rebecca Matheson and Robin MacLennan of Samba Source.

The project culminated with children performing, telling the audience about Brazil, its culture and rainforests, before donning carnival masks to perform on Samba percussion instruments.

Samba drumming is one of a variety of projects offered to Fife’s primary schools as part of Youth Music Initiative, funded by the Scottish Government and administered through Creative Scotland.
