Funeral for petrol tragedy youngster

-

THE FUNERAL of a young boy who died after being set on fire with petrol will take place tomorrow.

Preston Flores was found on fire while playing with friends on a street near his Aberdeen home.

The seven-year-old was rushed to hospital with serious injuries and transferred to a specialist burns unit in Edinburgh a few hours later.

Preston was enjoying the Easter holidays when the tragedy happened in the Bedford area of the city on April 18.

Young children were seen taking a petrol can from the back of a council van parked outside a block of flats.

Preston was running about the garden of the property screaming with his clothes on fire a few minutes later.

Surgeons did all that they could for the boy after he was flown to Edinburgh Royal Hospital for Sick Children but he died last Tuesday.

His family said his death had ripped them apart.

Preston’s mother Luisza Flores, 32, said at the time: “He meant the world to his family and will always be deeply missed and loved.

“Preston was a special little boy and his loss has ripped our family apart.”
