Pamela to bring passion of Brazil to Tayside
TV PERSONALITIES Pamela Stephenson Connolly and Arlene Phillips are heading to Dundee to prepare for their latest production.
They will be rehearsing at the Gardyne Theatre in July for the world premiere of Brazouka — a dance production taking a jour ney of intense passion, pulsing music and explosive energy, with Brazil’s most thrilling new dance company.
The troupe is led by Braz Dos Santos, who introduces the sensational dance language of lambazouk and other authentic Afro-Brazilian dances in a stunning variety of styles.
Written by Pamela and directed by world-famous choreographer Arlene, the show is scheduled to run at the Edinburgh Festival this summer.
Pamela is the driving force, writer and inspiration behind Brazouka.
Shortly after her stint in the final of Strictly Come Dancing, her pursuit to find the real passion in dancing led her to Brazil.
In partnership with the Dos Santos brothers she founded the Brazilliant Dance Company — and Brazouka was born.
Rehearsals and preview performances are being held at the Gardyne on July 25 and 26, before the production heads to the capital at the end of July for a three-week run at the Assembly Hall.
The company and creative team will be at the theatre in Dundee for a five-week rehearsal period ahead of the two preview performances.
Tickets for the Dundee shows are £12 and can be booked at www.dundeebox.co.uk or by calling 01382 448876.
