Biggest outdoor party

- by ALAN WILSON

THE COUNTDOWN starts here! Scotland’s summer of live music festivals officially starts in June and the daddy of them all, T in the Park, is already looming large.

There’s only six weeks to go before some of the world’s biggest artists, including headliners Biffy Clyro, Calvin Harris and Arctic Monkeys hit Balado for what will yet again be Scotland’s biggest outdoor party.

And following last week’s Tennent’s Lager T Break competition to win tickets for T in the Park 2014, we’ve got some great news with another chance to win the ultimate T in the Park package.

Up for grabs this week is not only a pair of weekend camping tickets, there’s also Citylink travel to and from the festival site, Be Chilled drinks vouchers, a tent and two sleeping bags. (See at end of article.)

The brilliant prize comes once again from founding partners DF Concerts and Tennent’s Lager, giving Rocktalk readers the opportunity to party all weekend at Balado over the weekend of July 11 - 13.

After last year’s glorious sun-kissed celebrations, T in the Park is back with some of the greatest names around heading to Kinross.

The headliners will be joined by Paolo Nutini, Pharrell Williams, Ed Sheeran, Elbow, Jake Bugg, Ellie Goulding, Paul Weller, Rudimental, Bastille, Ben Howard, Haim, The 1975 and many, many more.

Hundreds more actually, including legendary post punks Pixies, Manic Street Preachers, Tinie Tempah, Franz Ferdinand, The Stranglers, Foxes, The Magic Numbers, Kaiser Chiefs (there are just too many to mention) who will grace the stage at the 21st T in the Park.

In addition, an impressive line-up of electronic artists will take to the decks in the legendary Slam Tent over the festival weekend, including Sven Vath, Pretty Lights, Dave Clarke, Carl Craig, Magda, Len Faki, PanPot, Slam, Julio Bashmore, George Fitzgerald and Levon Vincent.

All in all, T in the Park 2014 has all the ingredients for the ultimate festival weekend.

Away from the music, there’s lots to look forward to, not least the food which, as festivals go, is second to none. Chill out with your mates in Healthy T, where the global kitchen offers quality festival cuisine made from the finest fresh ingredients with an emphasis on Scottish produce, including Loch Fyne oysters, venison burgers and stovies.
