Fresh mystery surrounds the death of a pregnant Arbroath woman whose body was found in a bathtub in Ghana.

The husband of Charmain Adusah, formally Speirs, has been charged with her death after she was found dead by hotel workers on March 20.

However, reports in Ghana suggest that Pastor Eric Isaiah Adusah may not have been the last person to enter her room at the Mac Dic Royal Plaza Hotel in Koforidua before she was found.

He left the hotel on March 18, but the Daily Guide Ghana claims to have Adusah’s room record which shows that someone entered the room at 11.17am on March 19 using a key card.

This is contrary to the case set out by the prosecution when Adusah, the head pastor at the Tottenham branch of the Global Light Revival Ministries, appeared at court at the African nation’s capital Accra last month.

The prosecution’s facts sheet claimed that on March 18 the accused checked out of the hotel and instructed staff not to disturb his wife because she would be fasting and praying in her room until she checked out on March 20.

The police said their investigations showed that no one else entered the room after Mr Adusah left.

According to the prosecution, the condition of the body showed Mrs Speirs died a couple of days earlier, which raised suspicions. An autopsy showed Mrs Adusah, who was three months pregnant, died of a heroin overdose.

However, the Ghana newspaper claims to have a print out of the activity at the room, which shows someone from the front desk entered the room on March 19.

The Daily Guide approached the chief executive officer of the hotel Berimah Adjei-Twinin who said a painter had been due to paint the room’s ceiling but that he had abandoned the job after hearing a television on.

Mr Adjei-Twinin said Mrs Speirs did not leave her room after March 18 and that she was not visited by anyone. He added that no staff at the hotel had been arrested by police.

Mr Adusah has been charged with murder.

He is alleged to have between March 18 and 20 this year, at Mac Dic Royal Plaza Hotel in Koforidua, caused the death of Ms Speirs by “unlawful harm.” He has not submitted a plea to this charge.
