Man, 26, arrested after incident in Dunfermlin­e

Police forensics teams are investigat­ing the “suspicious” death of a 28-year-old man in Dunfermlin­e.

Officers spent most of yesterday scouring a second-floor flat at Abbey View for evidence after a body was discovered

A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

The man, believed to originally be from Kennoway, died on Thursday evening, with an incident taking place at about 8.30pm, but nearby shopkeeper­s said they were unaware of any commotion.

A police spokesman said inquiries were “ongoing”.

A Fife community is “in shock” today following the suspicious death of a 28-year old-man.

Police descended on the Abbeyview area of Dunfermlin­e yesterday following reports a body had been discovered.

Officers confirmed the man had died in “suspicious circumstan­ces” on Thursday evening, with an incident taking place at around 8.30pm.

Forensic teams remained at the scene all day, with officers in white suits entering and leaving the property and two police officers standing guard at the front and the rear of the premises.

The man was found in a second floor flat next door to Abbeyview Library and Abbey News shop.

A 26-year-old man has since been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.

Shopkeeper­s said they were unaware of any commotion on the night of the incident, and very few residents had heard of any disturbanc­e.

One shopkeeper said he had heard the man who died had not lived in the area long and was originally from Kennoway.

Another local man, who works nearby but asked not to be named, said he heard the man had a flatmate.

He added: “I have heard a lot of hearsay. It’s not right to speculate until we know all the facts.

“The whole community of Abbeyview is in shock.

“It’s a tight-knit wee place where everyone looks out for each other and everyone is just so sad that a young man has lost his life.”

A spokespers­on for Police Scotland said: “Police in Fife were called to an address in Abbeyview, Dunfermlin­e, following the death of a 28-year-old man.

“The incident was reported to police on Thursday April 30 at around 8.30pm.

“A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death.”
