The R&A spring meeting continued yesterday over the New Course at St Andrews.

The best net score on the day, and of the week so far, was 67 returned by Tom Cooper (St George’s Hill), who plays off a handicap of eight.

Tuesday’s competitio­rs were faced with wet, cold, windy and miserable conditions.

The best net score of the day was a 73 returned by six handicappe­r James Bryce (Gullane) in the first game of the day.

His 79 was also the lowest gross score of the day.

The Brazil Nut Cup nine-hole stableford competitio­n for members 70 years of age and over, was cancelled.
