Ailsa hopes famous cousins will tune in

- George Mair

Ailsa Erskine is used to watching family members performing on TV but tonight Andy Murray’s young cousin will be making her own debut on screen – singing and dancing.

Ailsa, 12, right, is one of the talented kids from Stirling’s Stageworx School of Performing Arts who will feature on hit ITV gameshow Keep It In The Family.

The 25 youngsters perform Consider Yourself from the musical Oliver, with the help of host Bradley Walsh.

Millions of viewers will see Dunblane High pupil Ailsa and her pals, after they were flown to London’s Elstree Studios to record their part.

Ailsa said yesterday: “It was so much fun. We all flew down to London in an aeroplane and rehearsed our song with the choreographer before doing it for real in front of the cameras and the live audience.

“I was nervous and excited. It was an amazing opportunity and I think everyone did well.”

Ailsa regularly watches tennis star cousins Andy and Jamie Murray on TV, while her celebrity aunt Judy famously danced on Strictly. This time they’ll be sitting at home watching her perform.

She said: “Andy and Jamie are on television a lot. That’s different because they don’t sing and dance, but they are both very determined on the tennis court and I think I’m like that, too.

“It’s more like auntie Judy on Strictly. She was very brave to dance in front of so many people and I voted for her about 10 times.

“When I told her I was also going to be on TV too she said ‘good luck’, and afterwards when I told her all about it, she said it sounded amazing. She’s been really supportive and was so happy for me.

“I think they’ll be watching.”
