Wedding on after contact ban is lifted

-

A bride-to-be celebrated outside court yesterday after being told her wedding could go ahead because her fiance is no longer banned from talking to her.

Tammy McCutche on and Alexander Fyfe’s wedding plans were thrown into disarray after a sheriff banned them from communicating with each other.

Fyfe went to court to ask for the removal of the special no-contact bail condition so they could go ahead with plans to marry in Cyprus in less than a month.

Yesterday, the couple’s nightmare had a surprise happy ending when prosecutors dropped the case against Fyfe – because the Crown won’t pay to fly a key witness from Spain.

Fyfe had been accused of attacking his fiancee at T in the Park and had been ordered not to “approach, contact or communicate” with her before his trial on September 10.

However, he told Perth Sheriff Court they – along with 40 guests – were flying to Cyprus to get married on September 3 and could not do so if they could not talk to each other.

Fyfe returned to the court yesterday to argue for removal of the condition – but was told the assault charge was being dropped completely by the Crown.

Fyfe, 28, of Newmills, Tullibody, was arrested at T in the Park on July 12 in connection with an alleged assault on Miss McCutcheon and allegedly threatening police officers.

He was taken into custody at the music festival at Strathallan Estate and appeared at the court the following day, when he was granted bail with special conditions “not to approach, contact or communicate with” Miss McCutcheon.
