Concert Hall to throw parties
Perth Concert Hall has organised a series of events to celebrate its 10-year anniversary.
Yesterday the venue was described as having “shaken up the cultural map of Scotland” while becoming the new “go-to” venue for a host of world-class artists.
Perth Concert Hall has welcomed a plethora of top acts through its doors since it opened in 2005, including Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Van Morrison and the Proclaimers, as well as hosting a number of political conferences.
Two weekends of community activities and concerts have been arranged to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Perth Concert Hall.
On September 12/13, artists and performers will run free drop-in workshops including aerial dance, collage, drama, singing and graffiti. Backstage and artspace tours will be available and there will be free performances from local groups.
The Horsecross Hoolie ceilidh will take place on Saturday September 12, with The Singing Sunday being held the following day.
Award-winning trumpeter Alison Balsom will be joined by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra for a programme featuring Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto on Friday September 18. Perth Chamber Music will perform a free concert on the afternoon of Saturday September 19 in Perth Concert Hall.
That same evening will see a specially commissioned show, Made in Perthshire, take place at the venue.
Yesterday Gwilym Gibbons, chief executive of Horsecross Arts, said of the venue: “It has helped shine the spotlight on Perth as a great place to live, work, invest in and visit.”
