An array of automotive excellence is to grace Scotland’s capital in a mouth-watering treat for car fans.

The Palace of Holyroodhouse will be the backdrop for the 2015 Concours of Elegance.

Cars dating from as far back as 1902 will be joined by evocative names including Bugatti, Delage, Bentley and Rolls-Royce and supercar marques Lamborghini and Ferrari.

Alongside the 60-car concours display will be the world’s largest collection of cars from the Ecurie Ecosse team, which carved its name into motor sport legend at Le Mans in the 1950s.

Only the highest calibre of cars are invited to participate and visitors to the event on September 4-6 will be able to savour the priceless machinery at close quarters.

Ferrari fans will be tempted by a 212 Export Vignale making its concours debut after extensive restoration – the 1951 V12 having originally been driven by company founder Enzo Ferrari to its first owner.

The event will also celebrate the career of Scotland’s three-time Formula One champion Sir Jackie Stewart.

A trio of the cars he drove to his titles, along with the tartan-striped racing helmets he wore, will be on show.

Sir Jackie, vice-patron of the event, said: “I can’t think of a better place to showcase some of my championshipwinning Formula One cars.”
