Saints suffer at hands of Fed

-

Broughty Athletic were emphatic winners of the battle between two of the clubs promoted to the Super League this summer, beating St Andrews 5-0 at Barnetts Park, writes our junior football correspondent.

Stewart McConnachie struck twice in the first half and late goals from Jake Mair, Grant Lawson and a Bryan Duell penalty completed Saints’ misery.

On the other side of the Tay, Carnoustie edged out Tayport to continue their good start to the season and leave Dave Baikie’s men still searching for their first win.

Jamie McCabe scored the Gowfers’ winner 10 minutes from time.

The Fife derby between Hill of Beath and Kelty Hearts failed to produce a goal.

In the top-of-the-table Premier clash at Moorside Park, honours were even between Dundonald and Jeanfield despite the home side playing almost the entire second half with 10 men.

The Perth side went ahead in 35 minutes, John Anderson heading in a Chris Dodd cross.

The Fifers had Mark Forbes sent off after picking up a second yellow, but Scott Lawrie netted a leveller.

Lochee United proved too good for Montrose Roselea with a comfortable 3-0 win at Thomson Park.

Paul Blackwood put the Bluebells ahead after seven minutes and added second half strikes from Kamel Kadela on 55 minutes and Pat Martin with 13 minutes remaining.

Forfar West End were left rueing missed chances as they came away from Violet with only a point after it finished 1-1.

Both goals came in the first half, the visitors taking the lead after 15 minutes through Matty Reynolds , but a Pansies’ trialist levelled 10 minutes later. Results
