A grateful daughter has been able to trace the mystery nurse whos he believes saved her father’s life.

The good Samaritan swung into action when Briony Paddon’s dad was involved in an accident on the M90.

The tyre on his Ford Focus blew and the car left the road and careered on to an embankment.

He was attended to by the nurse who was driving the vehicle behind him before he was taken to Kirkcaldy’s Victoria Hospital.

Briony, 20, of Leven, took to social media in a bid to track down the woman and thank her.

She said: “I could say she saved my dad’s life.

“He was in a very bad crash on the M90 near Rosyth, between junction one and two.

“She was driving behind my dad when the tyre blew.

“We would really like to thank her in person.”

Briony knew only that the nurse was called Sharon, worked at the Victoria Hospital and that her accent sounded English.

She was also thought to live in Anstruther.

Briony’s post on Facebook was shared almost 250 times as people helped search for the kind stranger.

The former SRUC Elmwood student later reported online that she had traced the good Samaritan.

Police Scotland said a northbound lane of the motorway was closed for 90 minutes while emergency services dealt with the incident on Tuesday afternoon.

A spokesman said: “Road policing officers in Fife responded to the northbound carriageway of the M90, half a mile north of junction two following a one vehicle collision.

“The incident happened around 1.15pm on Tuesday and resulted in a Ford Focus leaving the road before coming to stop on an embankment.

“The left-hand lane was closed for around 90 minutes while emergency services treated the male driver, who was taken to the Victoria Hospital for treatment.

“He did not suffer any life-threatening injuries and inquiries into the full circumstances surrounding this collision are ongoing.”
