Light Blues down Dark Blues

DUNDEE 1 RANGERS 4

Rangers gained ample revenge for Monday’s defeat by Dundee in yesterday’s fixture at Links Park, Montrose.

The young Ibrox side were quickly out of the blocks and, after missing a first minute chance, took the lead seven minutes later through a 20-yard Scott Roberts effort.

Dundee’s Kyle Gourlay brought off a fine save from Rory Currie but was beaten again on 13 minutes when Jordan Gibson raced on to a through ball and sent it under the advancing keeper.

The Dark Blues tried to force their way back into the game but the closest they came was when Calvin Colquhoun headed narrowly past.

The home defence was all at sea on 36 minutes when Roberts grabbed his second, drifting in from the right before beating Gourlay.

On the stroke of half-time the visitors made it four when a ball over the top fell to Dylan Dykes who ran on and found the net.

The Dens men came out in more determined mood in the second half and John Black came close on several occasions to pulling a goal back.

With 10 minutes left a strong run by Jesse Curran set up a chance for Black at the far post and he made no mistake from close range.

Dundee: Gourlay, Dryden, Gibb, Priest, Waddell, Curran, A Black, Colquhoun, Clark (Gallacher 46), Gemmell, J Black. Subs not used: Beattie, Warwick.
