Hosts to offer tourists a warm welcome

-

Some of Fife’s youngest tourism staff have been learning the importance of a WorldHost welcome.

Members of staff at the Spindrift in Anstruther have successfully completed their training to provide great service to guests and to secure an independent qualification for themselves.

The staff are either university and college students or pupils at Waid Academy and have a broad range of duties including housekeeping, waitressing, taking bookings and welcoming guests.

Owners Ken and Christine Lawson recognised how important it is for all members of staff to look after guests confidently and warmly.

They hope their training at the Spindrift will interest the staff in careers in hospitality.

Ken said: “I’m delighted that the girls were so keen to take part in the training and I’ve seen them put much of what they’ve learned into action.

“Guests want a friendly welcome, but also information about places to visit and things to do and our staff can help confidently and knowledgeably, now.”

WorldHost trainer Ashley Petrie said: “Employees can be a great communications asset to any hospitality business when they feel able to look after guests well and make them feel welcome.

“The WorldHost customer service programme is internationally recognised as the gold standard and I’m delighted that so many businesses in Fife are participating in the training.”

Fife Tourism project manager Ann Camus said: “We hope to see many more tourism businesses take part so we can realise our goal to have Fife as a WorldHost recognised destination.”
