A man has been charged with murder following the death of a Kirkcaldy father at the weekend.

James Beveridge died as a result of his injuries following an incident in the town’s Farne Court, shortly after 6pm on Saturday.

At Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court yesterday, William Paterson, from Methil, was charged with Mr Beveridge’s murder and made no plea or declaration before he was remanded in custody.

The date for the 45-year-old’s next court appearance is yet to be confirmed.

The Templehall community remains in shock following the incident, with floral tributes laid at the spot where Mr Beveridge, a father of two, died.

In a message next to a bunch of flowers, one mourner wrote simply: “Devastated is an understatement.”

Meanwhile, police are maintaining a high presence in the normally quiet area, with officers carrying out door-to-door inquiries yesterday as they continue to investigate the death.

A community liaison team also remains parked in the cul-de-sac, in a bid to offer reassurance to residents.

Tributes have continued to flow in online for Mr Beveridge, known to friends as “Bevy”.

A message posted by his daughter Chantelle said: “RIP Daddy...”

Christina Ann Mackie said: “My thoughts are with Bevys family. Sadly missed funnily remembered.”
