Spanish Fleet set for return to winning ways

Racing: Bewley’s eight-year-old well placed to get back on track at Ayr

- The FerreT

SPANISH FLEET can get his head in front for the first time in just over two years by coming out on top in the Racing UK Profits Returned To Racing Handicap Chase at Ayr.

George Bewley’s eight-year-old has shaped well to get in the placings in both his starts since returning from a seven-month absence in October.

He should now be cherry ripe to return to winning ways.

TITIAN BOY has plenty of appeal in the Racing UK Day Pass Just £10 Handicap Chase.

Nick Alexander might reasonably want to make hay with this imposing type, who fired in a taking performance on what was his chasing debut around here.

His trainer seems to think there is a good deal more to come, and chasing was always going to be his game.

STILL BELIEVING seems to save her best for Ludlow and can demonstrate her love for the track once again in the feature Boyne Cup Handicap Chase.

The eight-year-old has won three times at the Shropshire venue, most recently back in January, and has placed a further twice at the course in the interim.

She has shown admirable consistency in three outings since her return from a summer break, placing at Worcester and Hereford before returning to Ludlow last time.

Still Believing was beaten 25 lengths in third on that occasion, but she actually did well to place at all after making a dreadful mistake at the 18th obstacle which cost her both ground and momentum.

While her chance of victory was gone, she eventually got rolling again to stay on for third.

A better round of jumping should ensure an improved result for Evan Williams’ runner.

MIDNIGHT TOUR is another who knows what it takes to win at Ludlow and can do so again in the Alfa Aggregates Products Mares’ Handicap Hurdle.

Alan King’s six-year-old absolutely dotted up at Hereford last month on her first run since May, slamming a previous winner in the shape of Legend Lady by 11 lengths.

That was her first start for King, having been with David Loder, and she is clearly on an upward curve.
