Kirkcaldy misfortunes continue with home defeat to Kelso

-

It was always going to be a big ask for Kirkcaldy to get the better of BT National Division 2 leaders Kelso – but on their home patch they could have expected to come away with at least something other than a sense of disappointment.

That feeling came from the fact that they left enough points on the pitch through missed kicks which could have earned them a bonus point but in the end the 27-10 scoreline gave them nothing.

Kirkcaldy had a try in each half but trailed 19-5 at the break and that was too big a margin to close.

When Jack Pow added a second-half try to Greg Walker’s first half effort that was it for the Fifers with Kelso running out comfortable winners.

With only two wins to their name in the league so far, this latest defeat drops Kirkcaldy into 10th spot in the league.

Although they are six points ahead of bottom side Ardrossan they will have to start picking up points, particularly from home games, if they are going to avoid anxious times ahead.

The visit of bottom of BT National 3 side Livingston to North Inch was an opportunity for Perthshire to grab their second win of the season.

And they took the chance with a 34-6 win.

Third-bottom Perthshire are still in a relegation spot, although that win edged them closer to rivals Dalziel, who now head them by only six points after going down at RHC.
