Sir Sean Connery attended a special screening in the Bahamas of his son’s eagerly-awaited movie which was shot in Fife.

Tommy’s Honour was given a Bahamian premiere close to where the Scots actor lives as he was unable to attend its world premiere at last year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival.

His son, Jason, directed the film which tells the story of golfing legend Old Tom Morris and his at-times turbulent relationship with son Tommy, who incredibly matched his father’s four Open victories before his death at the age of 24.

Starring Peter Mullan as Old Tom Morris, Jack Lowden as his son and Ophelia Lovibond as Tommy’s wife Meg, all of the action in Tommy’s Honour was shot in Scotland including St Andrews, where the golfing pioneer was a greenkeeper, and Falkland.

Its ensemble cast also includes Jurassic Park star Sam Neill as Alexander Boothby.

Sir Sean and wife Micheline joined Jason, whose mother is the late Diane Cilento, at the screening at The Island House Film Festival in Nassau.

Connery revealed last summer that a special showing would be laid on for his James Bond legend father near his home in the island paradise after he missed out on the movie opening the 70th film festival in Edinburgh.

On its Facebook page, The Island House hotel posted: “The Connerys were out in full force to support the Bahamian premiere of Jason Connery’s movie Tommy’s Honour”.

Tommy’s Honour, which received a largely positive reception from critics, will hit US cinemas on April 14 and be released internationally some time in the spring.

Movie-goers and golf enthusiasts were tantalised by the release of the first full-length trailer earlier this month for the best film winner of the 2016 Scottish BAFTAs.
