Countdown to flower show

-

Excitement is building ahead of next month’s Cupar Flower and Craft Show, which will take place in the Corn Exchange on Saturday, August 19.

This year organisers have teamed up with the Caulder’s Cupar Garden Centre to offer free entry into a number of garden competitions.

The initiative was launched to encourage locals with pride in their gardens to consider entering them into the amateur competitions.

Show secretary Wanda Wheelans said: “We see a lot of beautiful gardens in and around the area and know people who love to tend to their gardens, but they have never considered participating in the Cupar Flower Show garden competitions.

“There are classes specifically for those who live in Cupar and others within a seven-mile radius of the town.”

The closing date for the various categories is fast approaching and entries should be made by Saturday as judging will take place on July 22.

Ms Wheelans said this year’s judge, Alastair Barnard, would be looking for “a neat tidy garden, variety and quality of the plants and, if its vegetables, the quality and uniformity of the crop”.

First time exhibitors are welcome and anyone wishing more information should contact Ms Wheelans on 01334 654648.
