Aspiring writers young and old invited to enter competition
Budding writers from Anstruther, the East Neuk of Fife and beyond are once again being invited to put pen to paper and enter the 2017 Anstruther Writing Awards.
Organised by the Anstruther Improvements Association (AIA), the awards were reinstated in 2013 with the aim of building upon the East Neuk community’s great tradition of creative writing and of celebrating talent of all ages.
This year prospective entrants have until the end of September to take part, and the 2017 awards boast another impressive line-up of judges and cash prizes.
There are three age categories and numerous subcategories for different writing styles, plus a judging panel of Scottish novelist Jennie Erdal, award-winning children’s author Chae Strathie, young adult writer Christina Banach and Anstruther-born poet Andrew Greig.
AIA president Christine Palmer said: “A brilliant opportunity for writers of all ages, we are thrilled to welcome back our fantastic panel of judges, all of whom are looking forward to reading what the talented people of Anstruther, the East Neuk and further afield have to offer with their writing in 2017.
“To be able to showcase and harbour creativity in our town is one of the AIA’s main aims.”
Entry is free for primary and secondary pupils and there is a £5 entry fee for adults.
Writers of all ages can submit a single entry on any theme and in any genre, as long as it is their own work and previously unpublished.
Entry forms and further information are available at www.anstrutherimprovements.org.
