Bodies of two men discovered in Fife
Separate incidents shock Kelty and Buckhaven
Police are investigating after the bodies of two men were found in separate incidents in Fife.
The grim discoveries came just 30 minutes apart yesterday.
Police are treating the discovery of a 38-year-old man’s body in a house on Keltyhill Avenue, Kelty, at 11am as “unexplained”.
A car parked nearby also appeared to have had its windows smashed. Two houses on the quiet cul de sac have been cordoned off as inquiries continue.
Earlier the body of a 42-year-old man was found near garages on Eagle Road, Buckhaven.
Officers said that there did not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
The shock death of a man in a Kelty house is being treated as “unexplained”.
Emergency services were called to the residential cul de sac of Keltyhill Avenue, which backs on to the M90, at 11am yesterday.
A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed local officers were investigating following the death of a 38-year-old man, found in a house.
“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and inquiries are ongoing,” they said.
The Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed paramedics were sent to the scene.
A cordon was thrown around two flats at the end of the street, with police officers stationed outside.
Neighbours also reported seeing a car with smashed windows nearby.
Vicky Gonsales, who lives next door to 112, the ground floor flat which is cordoned off, said: “The driver’s side was all pushed in at the front.”
She claimed there had been concerns recently.
“It is a really nice area, everyone keeps themselves to themselves but I’ve had to call the police recently,” she said.
“I’ve been reporting the comings and goings and I am not surprised by this. It was just a matter of time.”
“But to have something like this happen next door is a bit too close to home,” she added.
The discovery came only half an hour after a man was found lying dead in the street in Buckhaven in a separate incident.
The 42-year-old was discovered near garages on Eagle Road at around 10.25am. Police said there did not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.
Locals said the area surrounding the garages was cordoned off for some time to allow officers to carry out inquiries.
One man said: “A body was found lying in the street next to the garages.
“I don’t know what’s happened but the police were here and it was all taped off and everything.”
Local councillor Ryan Smart lives near where the man was discovered.
“It’s absolutely tragic what’s happened,” he said.
“You wouldn’t want that to happen to anybody.”
He said he had been contacted on Facebook by several worried locals who had seen the police activity.
“There were police vans and CID, just what you would expect,” he added.
A police spokesperson confirmed police were called to the area after the body of a 42-year-old man was discovered by a member of the public.
“Inquiries are ongoing, however the death currently does not appear to be suspicious and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
