Drunk man threatened shop staff

-

A man who was turned down for a job at a Dunfermline kebab shop returned when he was drunk and caused a disturbance.

Hussein Alyasi, 31, of William Street, Dunfermline, admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing, making threats of violence and challenging people to engage in a stand-up fight on April 8 in Turkish Pride, Pilmuir Street.

At Dunfermline Sheriff Court depute fiscal Catriona Dalrymple said: “In the week prior to this, the accused had sought employment at the shop but had not been given the job.

“He and others went to the shop at 9.50pm – he was clearly under the influence of alcohol.

“He ordered some food then became aggressive to the workers in the shop, shouting and swearing at them.”

He said “you are nothing”, threatened to kill them and challenged them to fight.

Defence solicitor Roshni Joshi said her client had been working as a kitchen porter but was now unemployed.

She added he had been drinking a significant amount of alcohol before the incident.

The court was told Alyasi was already on a community payback order for causing another disturbance at the City Chambers.

Sheriff Charles MacNair warned Alyasi he would find himself in custody if he continued to behave in this manner.

He imposed a restriction of liberty order for 200 days.
