Caledonian Marts, Stirling, sold 119 prime bullocks and heifers to include 16 young bulls, 55 cast cows and bulls and 22 calves. Bullocks sold to a top of 248p for a Limousin from Knockhouse, Dunfermline and to £1,713 for a Limousin from South Flanders, Kippen. Heifers also sold to 248p for a Limousin from Faskine, Airdrie and to £1,443 for a Charolais from Pirnhall, Stirling. Leading prices: Bullocks ppkg – 242p and 240p Knockhouse, Faskine and Towncroft; 238p Mawcarse, Balquharrage and Knockhouse. Heifers ppkg – 240p Moorfield, West Mains ,Borlick and Classlochie; 235p and 232p Borlick, Moorfield and Pirnhall. Also forward were 55 cast cows and bulls. Beef cows ave 143ppkg selling to 164.5p for a Limousin from Mains of Throsk, Throsk and to £1,280 from the same home. Dairy cows ave 107p selling to 126.5p from, Broompark, West Lothian and to £920 for the same beast. Bulls ave 117p selling to 123.8p from Gartfairn, Drymen and to £1,300 from Blairsgreen Farm, Saline. Black and white stirks – £320, £300, £300 Wester Lochdrum; black and white calves – £62 and £68 Nyadd. United Auctions, Stirling, sold 1,144 store cattle also forward 179 cast cows.
