Body found in Brechin was missing Dundeeman

-

The body of a man found in Brechin has been confirmed as that of Anthony Kelbie from Dundee.

The police said yesterday that the body found in the Angus town on August 30 had now been formally identified as that of the 48-year-old.

Mr Kelbie was the subject of an extensive missing person search, involving police divers and a helicopter, stretching over more than 10 days.

He was reported missing after going out to buy a lighter on August 19, just hours after being treated in hospital for a bang on the head.

His distraught mother, Carole, 69, said during the search that she feared the worst.

She has since been too upset to talk about the tragic loss.

The police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal
