Last chance for say on expansion of town before green light sought

-

A final chance for the public to have their say on the expansion of St Andrews before a planning application is submitted will be offered later this month.

Two dates have been announced for further consultation and update on the masterplan for St Andrews West.

The consortium behind the plans, which include 1,000 new homes and new university space, has invited people to attend drop-in sessions.

St Andrews West LLP aimed to submit its application to Fife Council for planning permission in principle this month but will now lodge it in October.

The new Madras College will form part of St Andrews West if built as intended at Langlands and it is anticipated planning applications for the school, the expansion and a link road from the A91 will be determined at the same time.

St Andrews West project team hopes the third and final opportunity, at which views will also be sought on the link road, will be as well attended as previous events in February and May.

David Wardrop, planning consultant for St Andrews West, said: “The consultation events will provide an opportunity for the design team to explain how the feedback from previous events has impacted the plans, as well as any changes due to ongoing technical work.

“Community feedback continues to play an important role in shaping the masterplan for St Andrews West and we look forward to receiving further feedback prior to our submission in October.”

The sessions are on September 27 at Hotel du Vin, The Scores, and September 28 at Rufflets Hotel, Strathkinness Low Road, both 3 to 8pm.
