Sex offender jailed at Dunfermline for breach of prevention order

-

A paedophile who moved to Fife after he claimed he was hounded out of his native Ireland has been locked up.

Anthony Luckwill was jailed for 10 months at Dunfermline Sheriff Court yesterday.

The 44-year-old was found in Inverkeithing on Thursday in possession of a device which is banned under the terms of his sexual offences prevention order (SOPO).

He was detained by detectives and held in custody overnight before being brought before the court, where he admitted the breach.

Serial child sex offender Luckwill received widespread coverage in the Irish media after being released from a jail term imposed for sexually assaulting young boys after he posed as a TV casting agent.

Detective Sergeant Susie Blackwood, of Fife’s offender management unit, said: “We want to reassure the public that the management of sex offenders within the community is treated with the highest priority.

“Strict terms are put in place to manage an offender and protect the public, and any breaches of this will not be tolerated.”

Luckwill, previously branded a grave risk to society by an Irish judge, has a history of convictions across the UK and Irish Republic.

He left Ireland after he was assaulted by a group of locals in Dublin and his home was torched.

Luckwill, who now prefers to be known as Colin Gregory, had already been arrested for breaching the SOPO and claimed he thought it did not apply in Scotland.

He was found in possession of a laptop, two cameras and a mobile phone at an Inverkeithing hotel on June 4 and appeared in the same court just over a week ago, when sentence was deferred.

Originally from Dublin, he has numerous convictions for childrelated sex offences in Ireland, Wales and the Channel Islands.

In June 2013 he was jailed for four-and-a-half years in Ireland for sexually assaulting two boys who thought they were going to TV auditions.
