CAMERON. President Joy Straith welcomed members and introduced Patricia Galfskiy from Chillilici­ous Farm, Ceres, who spoke about setting up a business with her daughter to grow chillies and make chilli produce. Competitio­ns: jar of chutney – 1 A Morrison, 2 M Liddle, 3 M Kirkcaldy; flower of the month – 1 F Christie, 2 M Fraser. CARNBEE. President Catherine Brunton introduced Andrew Peddie, a local farmer who had diversifie­d and built a caravan park. President Monica Stewart welcomed everyone before Robby Wilson introduced Catherine Ellis from Lanark who gave a demonstrat­ion of the world of preparing, spinning, dying and working with a variety of yarns and how to card wash fibres in order to straighten out tangles. Competitio­ns: knitted corsage – 1 I Murray, 2 E Black, 3 H Woodcock; three cheese straws – 1 I Murray, 2 H Woodcock, 3 D Smith; flower of the month – 1 I Murray, 2 M Lambie, 3 R Wilson.

LARGO. President Mary Beattie opened the meeting and welcomed Eric Eunson who spoke about the Saints in Fife. Competitio­ns: French apple tart – 1 N Carstairs, 2 J Tiley; knitted hat – 1 M Luke, 2 N Carstairs, 3 P Scanlon; flower of the month – 1 M Bell, 2 P Scanlon, 3 M McCormack.

STAR. President Jane Smith welcomed everyone to the meeting and introduced Malcolm Stewart who gave an amusing talk ‘It shouldn’t happen to a vet, but it did’. Competitio­ns: photo of a pet – 1 J Wilson, 2 F Meldrum; fruit loaf – 1 J Wilson, 2 C Wilson; flower of the month – B Birrell. BIRNAM and DUNKELD. The first meeting of the season is an open meeting on September 26 at 7.30pm in the Duchess Anne, Dunkeld. The subject will be defibrilla­tors. Competitio­ns will be a heart shaped biscuit and flower of the month.

BISHOPSHIR­E. President

Jeanette McLennan welcomed members back after the summer break and introduced Paul Gowans who gave a talk about the Sandpiper Trust. BURRELTON and WOODSIDE. President Irene Smith introduced Paul Grant and Kenny Christie from the fire service who spoke about safety in the home. CARNBO. President Jay Hutchison welcomed members and visitors and introduced Deonaid Wilson who spoke about Carl Fabergé and then gave a demonstrat­ion on how to make decorative eggs in the Fabergé style. Competitio­ns: flower of the month – 1 J Brunton, 2 J Stirling; a knitted article – J Paterson.

CLEISH. President Helen Buchanan welcomed members to the September meeting. Competitio­ns: vegetarian supper dish – 1 A Bayne, 2 A Doig, 3 F Barnfather; vegetable/fruit animal – 1 J McGee, 2 A Thomson, 3 E Glennie; flower of the month – 1 A Doig, 2 J Craig, 3 A Bayne.

CLUNIE. The first meeting of the new season took place when members and visitors enjoyed a talk about Clunie’s past by Peter Morris. COLLACE and

KINROSSIE. President Janet Rougvie welcomed visitors and members and introduced Jillian Page of Something Special Flowers who spoke about her career as a florist and their notable success at the Chelsea Flower Show. Jillian also demonstrat­ed how to create arrangemen­ts and provided hints and tips for the audience to use at home. Competitio­ns: autumnal table floral arrangemen­t – 1 M Martin, 2 C Strathie; jar of mixed fruit jam – 1 L Murrie, 2 A Morrison.

GLENFARG. The first meeting of the season was attended by a team of volunteers from the Charity Air Ambulance organisati­on. Competitio­ns: favourite fridge magnet – 1 E Yull, 2 U Stewart, 3 J Black; individual trifle – 1 A Harrison, 2 A Messenger, 3 E Yull; flower of the month – 1 L Johnson, 2 A Messenger, 3 E Yull.

METHVEN. Club president Mrs D Goodison welcomed members and introduced Jane Sanderson, who gave an illustrate­d talk about her trip to Africa to climb Mount Kilimanjar­o. Competitio­ns: flower of the month – 1 D Goodison, 2 M Pearson: my favourite article – 1 M Pearson, 2 M Chisholm.
