Late Strathie flourish maintains Forfar side’s unbeaten start

Strathmore maintained their perfect start to the BT Caledonia Division One campaign when they saw off Dunfermlin­e 41-25 at Inchmacobl­e.

Strathie are now the only unbeaten side in the division and sit third with a game in hand.

The visitors opened the scoring but Strathie struck back to lead 19-8 at the break. And although Dunfermlin­e battled back into the game, a late Strathie flourish saw them home to a bonus point win.

Glenrothes took the spoils at Elliott Road when they edged out Harris 14-10 in a keenly -contested encounter.

Gavin Emerson had a try, converted by Kain Duguid as the Fifers led at half-time.

Adam Wood slotted a penalty for the home side, but the visitors extended their lead when Steven Dean dotted down and Duguid again added the extras.

However, when Chaz Quin bagged a try, converted by Wood, the Dundonians had their hopes of victory revived. But the hosts, who finished with 14 men as injuries took their toll, were unable to add to their tally.

Hillfoots continue to set the pace in Division Two (Midlands) after a fourth successive bonus point win. This time the victims were Stirling County thirds who were unbeaten going into the encounter.

Hillfoots posted a 55-3 win, taking their tally of points scored to 347 in four matches.

Blairgowri­e were also in fine form on their trip to meet Morgan Rugby.

A 78-0 win for the visitors means they remain in second spot, a point adrift of Hillfoots.

Carnoustie made it three wins in a row when they returned from the trip to meet Falkirk seconds with a 29-12 win under their belts.

Panmure had a comfortabl­e 38-5 success at home to Madras and Kinross opened their account for the season with a 34-19 win away to Kirkcaldy seconds.

Waid Academy had a fourth successive bonus point win in Division Three (Midlands), and nearest pursuers Arbroath were 47-21 winners at Alloa seconds.

Rosyth Sharks beat Glenrothes seconds 26-5 and Aberfeldy saw off Bannockbur­n 24-13. The other matches were all one-sided affairs, with Howe of Fife seconds catching the eye as they recorded a 142-12 win over Hillfoots seconds.

Meanwhile, Grangemout­h seconds were 95-0 winners at Stobswell and Crieff & Strathearn eased to a 62-7 success in their fixture at home to the Angus Developmen­t side.
